The Final

Image
PSG vs Bayern Munich Both teams mounting pressure: The awaited final was with expectations as both sides looked to win Europe's prestigious trophy. Tuchel's men began to press as Bayern were keeping more of the ball. But, in some situations, Bayern tended to press when the French side was holding the ball. PSG's first final was looking promising with the deadly trio looking in form while the Bundesliga outfit was also in good shape after thumping Barca in the quarter 8-2 and a semi-final victory against Lyon. The French side was close to scoring when Neuer blocked Mbappe set-up Neymar as the former Barca man's effort for a corner.  Flicks' men had an opportunity when Davies dashed towards the left-side and cleverly slipped a ball for Lewandowski, and the in-form striker's shot beat Navas and struck the post, which was a sigh of relief for the French side. Tuchel's men had a brilliant chance when Neymar and Mbappe began the counter as they slipped a ball to

Match Review 1. Bayern breaks the deadlock after surviving an early scare: The French side looked promising in the early stages and was keen on applying pressure on their opponents. It looked like they were in the mood after surprising Man city with a 3-1 win and were trying to apply pressure. Lyon had an opportunity to score when Cornet slipped a through ball for Depay who ran between the center-backs towards the penalty area. The former Manchester United man moved right past Neuer and speared a shot wide of the near post. It would have been a massive boost for the French side if they had scored. Bayern narrowly escaped from that situation and began to attack. Goretzka was close to scoring when he and Lewandowski played a one-two and mishits his shot prompting Lopes to jump.  Lyon was relying on the counter and had another chance when Ekambi's first attempt was blocked by Davies. The Lyon man received the ball from Davies's initial block and shot only for the ball to hit the

Match Review 1. PSG take the lead:  The Ligue 1 side began to look threatening in the early stages of the game as Neymar and Mbappe combined very well. Both stars seemed to be in a good mood as their chemistry was showing a good affect. Leipzig struggled to keep hold of the ball as PSG's game plan was executed very well. They seem to lose their spark which they had showed against Atletico Madrid in the quarter-finals.  Tuchel's side had an early chance when Mbappe delivered a through ball to Neymar who dashed to reach the ball and the Brazilian nicked a touch towards the net which was almost very close to going in. They capitalized on an error committed by Leipzig and scored the goal only to be ruled out as Neymar was found guilty of a handball. PSG won a set-piece and Di Maria took responsibility and delivered a perfect ball towards the box. Marquinhos reached and scored the opening goal to give his side the lead.  2. Tuchel's men dominate and score a second:  Tuchel'

Match Review 1. Lyon breaks the deadlock by keeping City at bay :  It was a very surprising fact that Pep's men did not create any chances despite having the majority of the ball. The French side was able to take advantage of City's defense and it was very surprising that the former Barca boss went for 3 defenders at the back. To everyone's surprise, Rudi Garcia's men opened the scoring when Marcal launched a long ball towards Ekambi who cleared the offside trap. Garcia's tackle was well executed but the ball fell into Cornet's feet as he curled the shot towards the back of the net to give his side the lead.  There were little celebrations as the goal was immediately taken upstairs for a review and after checking the goal was awarded. Surprisingly, City did not create any clear cut chances in the first half. The only chance they created was when Sterling dribbled past Cornet to set-up for Rodrigo who shot from a tight angle and lopes managed to save after makin

Match Review 1. Explosive start by both sides:  Both sides began this exciting encounter in a brilliant style as Bayern were looking for a high intense press. These sides together have won this prestigious competition 5 times each which is 10 Champions League together. The encounter began with both teams looking to go all out against each other to gain momentum. Bayern got an early lead in a counter-attack when Perisic began the run and crossed deep. Lewandowski and Muller combined well as the Polish striker made it easier for the German to set-up and score to give an excellent start. Setien's men reacted when Jordi Alba dashed towards the box and passed towards Suarez. Alaba, facing his own goal took a heavy touch and scored in the back of his net. This game is looking very exciting. 2. Bayern's intense press goes on: The Bavarians wasted no time in terrorizing Barca's weak defense as they looked to penetrate very easily. Semedo looked helpless as the Catalans looked cluel

Match Review  1. Goalless first-half: It was widely expected that Simeone's men would sit back and defend in contrast to their opponents. The German team under Nagelsmann had more of the ball during the first 45 minutes. Despite no goals from both teams, the first half was a fast-paced game. There were moments in the game on both sides. Nagelsmann's men had more control of the game and were able to create more opportunities while Atletico Madrid was hanging on and waiting for a counter. Leipzig could have opened the scoring when Halstenberg struck a shot with too much power.  Simeone's men on the other end reacted when Carrasco sprinted towards the box and shot towards the keeper who punched it away for a corner and Savic's looping header was comfortably saved. The German outfit was solid in defense as well as in the offense courtesy of Upemancano and Kampl. They were close to scoring when Upemacano's header from a corner was comfortably saved by Oblak. One problem

Match Review 1. Both sides begin to look threatening in the opening minutes:  As soon as the whistle blew, Gasperini's men began the game without their star striker  Josip Iličić  and looked promising by sprinting forward towards PSG's box. The Italian side had an early opportunity when Zapata slipped the ball downside the left side towards his teammate who shot low towards Navas for an early save. Tuchel's men were close to scoring when Icardi circled the opponent's defense to set-up Neymar as he sprinted past Atalanta's defenders only for the Brazilian star to miss the chance by sidefooting past the goalkeeper well-wide. Point to be noted, the Italian side had been pressing PSG's defense that has caused problems for them which lead to Atlanta winning freekicks often.  The underdogs reacted when Gomes advanced towards the French side's defense and set-up a chance for Hatoboer who received the ball and headed towards the net only for the Costa Rican keeper
