The Final

 PSG vs Bayern Munich

  1. Both teams mounting pressure:

The awaited final was with expectations as both sides looked to win Europe's prestigious trophy. Tuchel's men began to press as Bayern were keeping more of the ball. But, in some situations, Bayern tended to press when the French side was holding the ball. PSG's first final was looking promising with the deadly trio looking in form while the Bundesliga outfit was also in good shape after thumping Barca in the quarter 8-2 and a semi-final victory against Lyon. The French side was close to scoring when Neuer blocked Mbappe set-up Neymar as the former Barca man's effort for a corner.

Flicks' men had an opportunity when Davies dashed towards the left-side and cleverly slipped a ball for Lewandowski, and the in-form striker's shot beat Navas and struck the post, which was a sigh of relief for the French side. Tuchel's men had a brilliant chance when Neymar and Mbappe began the counter as they slipped a ball to Herrera. The Spanish midfielder spotted Di Maria as he moved the ball towards him only for the Argentine winger to blast the ball over the bar.

Bayern had a chance when Kimmich's cross was nicked off by Kimpembe only for Lewandowski to react as Navas sharply stopped his point-blank header. Towards the end of first-half, PSG could have opened the scoring when they capitalized on Bayern's defensive error. Mbappe and Di Maria exchanged passes, and the former Monaco man could have scored as his shot wasn't convincing as Neuer comfortably saved the ball.

2. Bayern breaks the deadlock:

The second-half began with the German outfit keeping possession and denying PSG to make any breakthrough. Tuchel's men were searching for answers as the Bundesliga champions were thwarting every attempt. It looked like the momentum was shifted towards the Germans as the French side could not replicate their first-half performance. Eventually, Flick's men made the breakthrough when Kimmich delivered a superb cross towards Coman, and the French winger kept his eye on the ball and headed downwards, which beat Navas towards the back of the net. Surprisingly, Coman scored against his former club.

The only time PSG was close to scoring was when Davies failed to pass through Di Maria, who slipped a ball for Maquinhos, and Neuer saved the Brazilian's effort. One moment came when PSG could have scored when Mbappe received the ball and left it between Neuer's legs to keep it comfortable. Honestly, it was an unnecessary move by the Frenchman to let the ball go between his legs. Apart from this, the French side failed to create chances and looked sloppy as Bayern's momentum was.

In the end, Bayern Munich was Champions Of Europe for the 6th time. It was heartbreaking for PSG as they lost the game 1-0. Both sides had chances in the first-half as they were looking to apply pressure in the early stages. Bayern had two opportunities when Lewandowski was once denied by the pole and the other by Navas. PSG also had chances when Herrera found Di Maria. Unfortunately, his shot was blasted over the bar, and Mbappe's casual shot was saved comfortably by Neuer. Bayern's second-half was majority controlled, and they broke the deadlock when Coman scored a header against his former club thanks to sublime delivery by Kimmich.

The French side had a few chances which should have been scored. Point to be noted, Neuer was the man as he was soo good and held his ground in many situations. The German shot-stopper yet again proved his masterclass without a doubt. With this win, Bayern becomes the second side to win two trebles after Barcelona. Hansi-Dieter Flick becomes the sixth coach to win a treble after Jupp Hynckes, Jose Mourinho, Sir Alex Ferguson, Pep Guardiola, Luis Enrique. But, Guus Hiddink is also one of the coaches to win a treble, so it makes Flick the 7th coach to win a treble.
