Liverpool Vs Everton

 The Merseyside Derby:

1. Visitors break the deadlock:

The game began with Liverpool keeping more of the ball and were playing with free flow passes as Everton were looking to play on the counter. Klopp's men were looking to bounce back after their defeat at the hands of Aston Villa. Moments later, the visitors broke the deadlock. Robertson dribbled his way past Coleman, and the Scottish left-back played a pass to Mane, who scored past Pickford and gave his side the lead. The Senegalese winger was tested positive for COVID-19 and returned to the side after completing his quarantine period.

2. Everton equalize:

After conceding the goal, the hosts began to more cautiously and were almost close to scoring when Calvert-Lewin headed the ball above after Digne played across. Things turned worse for the defending champions as Virgil Van Dijk hobbled off the field after Pickford attempted to clear the ball from a set-piece. It was a rash attempt for clearance as VAR checked for a possible penalty but was ruled out offside.

With Van Dijk subbed off, the hosts looked to threaten their defense as they looked weak. Everton had another chance to score when Rodriguez picked up a loose ball and played through Liverpool's defense for Calvert-Lewin, who wasted no time and attempted to cut, which prompted Adrian to save. Ancelotti's men equalized from the corner as Keane leaped over Firmino as the ball touched Adrian before heading into the net.

3. Liverpool extend their lead:

Everton had an excellent chance to score their second goal when James Rodriguez played a brilliant pass to Richarlison. The Brazilian's header hit the post giving Liverpool a lifeline. The defending champions extended their lead as Fabinho and Henderson combined. Henderson's pass was cut by Mina, whose low clearance landed the ball on Salah's feet. The Egyptian winger struck with power as Pickford had no chanced to save which was his hundredth Liverpool goal.

4. Calvert-Lewin continues his goalscoring form:

The appointment of Carlo Ancelotti has benefitted Calvert-Lewin as the striker has been in the red-hot form under the Italian manager. Everton equalized for the second time as Rodriguez played the ball to Luca Digne, and the left-back whipped a brilliant cross. The in-form Calvert-Lewin leaped over Robertson, headed the ball towards the back of the net, and scored the season's tenth goal.

The game ended as the score was 2-2 with both sides finding the back of the net. Liverpool took the lead in early minutes as Robertson set-up Mane and the Senegalese winger saw the net's end. Moments later, Van Dijk hobbled of the field after Pickford lunged in for clearance from the set-piece which could have been a red card for the goalkeeper. The hosts equalised from a corner of Rodriguez towards Keane as the Everton center-back leaped over Firmino to head the ball towards the goal thanks to Adrian's touch.

The defending champions scored another in the second half when Mina's low clearance landed on Salah's feet and the Egyptian winger scored his hundredth goal for his side. Ancelotti's men scored for the second time as Digne whipped a brilliant cross to Calvert-Lewin who leaped over Robertson and scored his tenth goal of the season. Henderson scored in the dying minutes for his side until the goal was ruled offside by the VAR as Mane was caught just offside. With this result, Everton remain at the top of the table and are yet to be beaten.
