Unfortunately, Arteta's men succumbed to a 2-1 defeat at the hands of their rivals in the North London Derby despite having a strong start. As expected, The Reds dominated in the early minutes of the game as they hold on to the ball. By dominating possession, the hosts were struggling to keep hold of the ball and were finding it impossible to make a breakthrough as Liverpool were in control. Klopp's men were close to scoring when Martinez's clearance was thwarted by Firmino's jump and the ball clipped the post and went wide for a goal-kick. The Reds had their breakthrough when Firmino combined brilliantly with Robertson to set-up Mane as the former Southampton winger scored the goal to give his side the lead.
2. Arsenal equalizes thanks to Van Dijk's rare error :

The Gunners were relying on the counter-attack as they were struggling to find an opportunity. Moments after Klopp's men opened the scoring, Arsenal nearly bounced back when Reiss Nelson had an opportunity to equalize as he blew his chance. Ironically, Arteta's men equalized when Virgil Van Dijk's disastrous pass headed towards Lacazette as the Frenchman made use of the opportunity and scored the equalizer. The former Southampton center-back protested that Nelson had committed a foul but the VAR replay did not find any problem with that. It was a funny and shocking moment as Van Dijk committed a very rare error which is unbelievable. Coincidentally, Harry Maguire had also been criticized for man-marking his teammate against Southampton that lead to a last-minute equalizer.
3. Arsenal turns the tables:

Liverpool's night was worsened when another surprising incident occurred. The Gunners again took the lead when Robertson's throw-in was too much for the Brazilian's number 1. Alison's tried a chip towards Robertson which was intercepted by Lacazette as the former Lyon striker passed the ball towards Nelson who extended his side's lead. This time it was the Brazilian shot-stopper who was at fault. Rather feel sorry for Liverpool bottling the lead, these were unnecessary errors that were committed. The Gunners again were close to scoring in the final minutes when the Reds defense was completely opened and record signing Nicolas Pepe missed the opportunity to put the game to bed.

In the end, it was Arsenal who surprised everyone with a win against the newly crowned champions. Liverpool almost opened the scoring when Martinez awful clearance was thwarted by Firmino only for the ball to hit the post and go for a goal-kick. Finally, Klopp's men broke the deadlock when Firmino and Robertson combined well to set-up Mane as he scored for his side. The Gunners equalized when Van Dijk committed an error as his pass ended in disaster as Lacazette capitalized and scored the equalizer. Honestly, nobody would have expected that a defender with that quality who commit a howler. Arteta's men again were on the score sheet when Alison attempted a cheeky pass that ended up on Lacazette's feet and passed towards Nelson who scored the second goal. It was a comedy of errors by the Reds. The second-half saw the hosts who were sitting back and hanging on to their lead after Liverpool began a flurry of attacks. Salah squandered a chance when Van Dijk's beautiful delivery landed on Alexander-Arnold's feet who passed the to set-up the Egyptian only for him to miss. Martinez saved his side in the last minute when The Reds began to press heavily as Alexander-Arnold shot was deflected that prompted the Gunners shot-stopper to respond. Overall Liverpool could have put the game to bed, but they were punished as their errors lead to Arsenal claiming 3 precious points.
